The €6 million BadB project is officially underway! Last month, KrattWorks, GIM Robotics, KappaZeta and RigrAI met in Helsinki to move into the active phase of our two-year mission. The project addresses one of the most pressing challenges for autonomous land and aerial vehicles: reliable navigation and operation when GPS is out of reach.
Although the European Defence Fund (EDF) awarded the project in 2024, the kick-off meeting showed that all partners are now ready to take on their roles in full. The session had a professional “meet-and-greet” format, where participants aligned on the first concrete steps and established the initial work plan.
By sharing their technical readiness levels and mapping out strengths, the partners came away confident that the consortium is well positioned to deliver on its goals: boosting the autonomy of UAVs and UGVs in GNSS-denied environments by combining satellite imagery and multi-sensor data. The outcome aims to make troops more survivable, less dependent on radio links, and ultimately more effective in the field.
We are now looking forward to regular partner meetings ahead and to delivering results according to plan.
