At the end of August, the Badb consortium held its first development meeting, bringing together team members from all partner organisations. The gathering marked the start of hands-on collaboration, with our engineers working side by side on the project’s technical challenges.

During the session, aerial videos were collected to improve the accuracy of KrattWorks’ Visual-Inertial Odometry (ViO) algorithm and to provide RigrAI with valuable training data for its machine vision module development. KappaZeta tested how well their first version of military grid satellite map images performed in supporting machine vision–based detection algorithms, while the team also tested sending MAVLink messages to third-party software using military grid coordinates and ViO data.

Solita and GIM Robotics worked on the first ideas for the system architecture. Along the way, plenty of spontaneous discussions and problem-solving moments helped us align on priorities and set clear targets for the second quarter.
