Last February, KappaZeta represented our project at the European Defence Agency’s 56th CapTech Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) meeting, hosted by WTD 61 in Manching, Germany.

KappaZeta introduced the Badb consortium to CapTech members from 18 countries, presenting its partners KrattWorks, GIM Robotics, Rigr AI and Solita along with the project’s core objectives and scope of work.

The mission of the GNC CapTech is to support and advance Research & Technology (R&T) and innovation in guidance, navigation, and control for defence systems. This aligns closely with the goals of the Badb project, which can directly benefit from developments across several key topics on the CapTech GNC agenda:

  • Navigation in GNSS-denied environments

  • Guidance and control in challenged environments

  • Autonomous and automated GNC and decision-making for manned and unmanned systems

This gave us a valuable opportunity to exchange views with engineers and innovators working on similar challenges, while contributing our insights to CapTech GNC activities and supporting the update of the GNC Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda for the next five years.

This clearly shows the true value of bringing key players together in one room. Compared to brief remote exchanges, in-person discussions enable deeper technical dialogue and more immediate feedback. As a result, the event combined excellent forward-looking presentations on European defence technologies with engaging discussions that are difficult to replicate remotely.

We are excited about the outcome and look forward to continued collaboration with EDA CapTech GNC members. This kind of cooperation is essential to move faster toward shared goals and a shared security environment.
